A low tea bowl hand-carved from a single block of stoneware clay in the spirit of the Japanese art of kurinuki. Many times this clay is recycled leftovers from various projects in the studio and may sometimes even be a mix of different clays, further ensuring the uniqueness of each piece. Each one is then glazed and fired & vitrified to cone 10+ in a gas kiln.
This particular tea bowl is carved from Black Mountain clay and features a peace symbol foot. Finished in a matte semi-translucent glaze.
This faceted tea bowl is meant to resemble a rock or stone you’d find in nature and like rocks each one is unique.
These tea bowls were born out of solitude during COVID stay-at-home orders and as such, fittingly prescribe to the mindful nature & spirit of brewing a cup of tea. Imperfectly perfect, fit for any tea but we love matcha & genmaicha in ours!
