A handled coffee mug hand-carved from a single block of stoneware clay in the spirit of the Japanese art of kurinuki. Many times this clay is recycled leftovers from various projects in the studio and may sometimes even be a mix of different clays, further ensuring the uniqueness of each piece. Each one is then glazed and fired & vitrified to cone 10+ in a gas kiln.
"A Well-Worn Path" is carved from block of iron rich red clay which has left some nice speckling though the matte grey & brick-colored glaze. Look at the recessed foot of unglazed clay and you'll see the white speckled red clay. NOTE: This particular piece has some cracks on the bottom around logo that happened during the final firing. They don't affect the mug or it's drinkability at all, but the price reflects these imperfections. We're not perfect, they're not perfect.
